2014 Spring Events Update

There are some fantastic events coming up this spring, sponsored in part by the Fairhaven Cultural Council! Mark these on your calendar:

Art on Center in Fairhaven is seeking entries for their upcoming art exhibit titled Art of Fairhaven: Past, Present and Future. Entries are due April 16. Cash prizes will be awarded in several categories; all ages are welcome to enter for a small fee. The exhibit will run from April 19-24, 2014.

Fairhaven High School Theater Company will present their production of The Wizard of Oz April 3-5, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. and April 6 at 2 p.m. Performances will take place at the F.H.S. Performing Arts Center. The box office will be open before each performance but tickets are going fast...

Community members of all ages are invited to storyteller-musician Davis Bates' presentation of "Celebrating New England". This multi-generational event will be held at the the Fairhaven Senior Center/Council on Aging on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 10 a.m.  It's school vacation week, so we hope to see lots of kids and families there!

The Greater New Bedford Choral Society, directed by Gerald P. Dyck and accompanied by Christopher Ricci, will present its Spring Concert on May 11, 2014 at 7:30 pm at the First Unitarian Church in New Bedford and on May 18, 2014 at 7:30 pm at St. Bonaventure Church, 803 State Road in Plymouth. The program includes Te Deum Laudamus and Jubilate Deo by Henry Purcell, the world premiere of Lines from Milton’s L’Allegro by Director Gerald P. Dyck. The chorus will be joined by soprano Elizabeth Grace, mezzo-soprano Roberta Janelle, tenor Brendan Buckley, baritone Gabriel Alfieri, and a woodwind quartet composed of Wendy Hawes, Laura Pardee, Christine Williamson and Saul Woythaler.

Congrats to Tri-County Symphonic Band on their recent "New York, New York" concert featuring flutist Leslie Stroud. The concert was held on Sunday, March 16. Read more about it in the New Bedford Standard-Times . Don't miss their annual Pops Concert and fundraiser "Fairy Tales, Witches and Wizards" on Sunday, June 8, 2014.

And bring the family to Magic by Scott Jameson at the Millicent Library on June 26, 2014 at 10 a.m. and be mesmerized by some amazing feats! This event will be a great way to kick off summer vacation.
